The Main Card will consist of 6 fights with 2 fights with a championship on the line. UFC 269 is set to take off on December 11th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira and number one contender Dustin Poirier will headline the main card of UFC 269 with Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena being the co-main.
Opening of UFC 269: Number 6 Ranked Flyweight Kai Kara France vs Unranked Flyweight Cody Garbrandt
Cody Garbrandt(12-4) is looking for a contender rank in his debut in the flyweight division against Kai Kara France(22-9) is a kickboxer who trained in brazilian jiu jitsu for 2 years at an early age, and Cody Garbrandt is a mixed martial artist who train in boxing and wrestling. Kai Kara France is coming off of a Technical Knockout win against Rogerio Bontorin and Cody Garbrandt is coming off of a very dominant unanimous decision loss against number 5 ranked bantamweight Rob Font. Cody Garbrandt is known to have a bad chin but in his last fight he took many jabs to the face and wasn’t phased at all, I don’t think that he will get knocked out in this fight because Kai Kara France doesn’t have much power in him but Kai Kara France will probably win by decision.
Number 15 Ranked Bantamweight Raulian Paiva vs Unranked Bantamweight Sean O’Malley
For the first time in his seven fights in the UFC, Sean O’Malley will be fighting a ranked opponent. Sean O’Malley is 14-1 or 14-0 as he says, is coming off of a win against Kris Mountino by Technical Knockout, in the fight he broke the bantamweight record for significant strikes at UFC 264 with 230 significant strikes. Raulin Paiva is 21-3 coming off of an amazing win against Kyler Phillips by Majority Decision. Sean O’Malley is a great striker that trains in kickboxing and boxing, he is also a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Raulin Paiva is a Mixed Martial Artist that is trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a black belt. In this fight it can go many ways, if Raulin Paiva decides to stand with Sean O’Malley he will lose, but if Raulin Paiva can take Sean O’Malley to the ground, he will win.
Number 10 Ranked BW Dominick Cruz vs Number 9 Ranked BW Pedro Munhoz
Dominick Cruz is 23-3 and is coming back from a split decision win against Casey Kenny. Pedro Munhoz is 19-6 coming off of a loss to one of the all time greats Jose Aldo. Dominick Cruz is a boxer with excellent head movement and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Pedro Munhoz is a fighter who trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a black belt. Judging by his last previous performances and age, Dominick Cruz’s boxing and head movement has deteriorated. Pedro Munhoz is also old but he’s looked great in his last fights. The winner of this fight will be Pedro Munhoz, I believe that he will land a few takedowns and outstrike Dominick Cruz to win by decision.
Number 3 Ranked WW Leon Edwards vs Number 6 Ranked WW Jorge Masvidal
This fight has taken the place of Brandon Moreno vs Deiveson Figueiredo which will be shifted to UFC 270 in January, and will be the Co-Main of Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou first title defense against Interim Heavyweight Champion Cyril Gane. Leon Edwards is a kickboxer with questionable clinches and is on a 10 fight win streak coming off of a unanimous decision win against Nate Diaz. Jorge Masvidal is one of the greatest boxers in the UFC but is coming off of a knockout loss to the Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. These two have had beef for a couple years now, the altercation happened after Jorge Masvidal’s fight against Darren Till which he won, in the middle of an interview with Jorge Masvidal, Leon Edwards started trash talking to Jorge which led to Jorge walking to Edwards while exchanging words with him, and then Jorge Masvidal hit Leon Edwards with a “3 piece and a soda” that opened up a cut on Leon Edwards cheek. This fight will be great, it’ll be a great striking match between 2 excellent strikers. I expect Jorge Masvidal to end that 10 fight win streak of Leon Edwards’.
BW and FW Champion Amanda Nunes vs Number 5 Ranked BW Julianna Pena
Amanda Nunes has ran through both of her divisions for years now, there is no one that can beat her right now, Julianna Pena has no chance, she is a heavy underdog with absolutely no hopes to win. Even if Amanda Nunes somehow loses, she’ll still have her Featherweight Championship Belt. This fight will be a domination from Amanda Nunes.
Main Event of UFC 269: LW Champion Charles Oliveira vs Number 1 LW Dustin Poirier
Charles Oliveira(31-8) is on a 8 fight winning streak and obtained the Lightweight Championship against Michael Chandler at UFC 262 for the Vacant Lightweight Championship. Dustin Poirier(28-6) is coming off of 2 wins against Conor Mcgregor and looks to capture the belt at UFC 269. Charles Oliveira has 17 finishes in the UFC which is the record and 14 submission wins which is also the record in the UFC, he is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has great striking in a Muay Thai style. Dustin Poirier has the record for most knockouts in the lightweight division with 9 and is one of the greatest boxers in the UFC. This fight can go many ways, the outcome that is most likely to happen is Dustin Poirier knocking out the newly crowned champion Charles Oliveira, or for Charles Oliveira to get a submission win, and the outcome that is not likely to happen is a decision. Either outcome will result in a great fight. Although I don’t want any of these warriors to lose, my favorite to win this fight is Dustin Poirier, he is stronger on the feet and probably on the ground.
