The UFC’s GOAT is always hard to choose. There’s Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, George St.Pierre, Anderson Silva, and many more to argue with.
Who is the Greatest?
The fighters that are mostly in the GOAT dispute are Jon Jones, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and George St.Pierre. Let’s start with Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, people call him the GOAT because of him being the youngest to win a UFC championship, having 11 title defenses, and being an all-around fighter. The reason he isn’t called the greatest of all time is because of his many failed drug tests. Moving on to George St.Pierre, he is named the greatest of all time by people because of his 9 title defenses in the welterweight division, being great in striking, wrestling, and jiu jitsu, he even went up to the middleweight division to defeat Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship. People do not call George St.Pierre simply because of his two losses. Next is Khabib ‘ The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov, the reason he is named the greatest of all time of some people is because of his undefeated record going 29-0, having three title defences in the lightweight division against Conor Mcgregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje, and having very dominant performances. The reason people do not call him the greatest of all time is because, he weighs in at about 185 pounds on fight nights so he is called a weight bully for not going up into the welterweight division, and only having three title defences. In my opinion, the UFC’s greatest of all time is Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, he’s the greatest because of his great wrestling, striking, and grappling, he has 11 consecutive title defences in the flyweight division with his only loss in the UFC being a super close fight, dominated his entire division, and was the number one pound-for-pound fighter for years. People do not call him the greatest of all time just because he was too good, or “his competition sucked” but he has faced Henry Cejudo twice, Joseph Benavidez twice, and other great flyweights.
The answer is that, no one is the goat.Everyone has a reason that a fighter is not a goat, like Khabib never moving up to the welterweight division, George St-Pierre having 2 losses, Jon Jones using illegal moves and failing multiple drug tests, and Anderson Silva having multiple losses and a failed drug test. There is no GOAT.
