ESports is a largely growing scene that is projected to expand massively, as high schools are scrambling to accept and nurture this new opportunity.

An ESports tournament consists of two or more teams competing against each other in any designated game, such as:

  • Street Fighter
  • Doom
  • Quake
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive
  • VALORANT (stylized)
  • Rainbow Six: Siege
  • Dota 2
  • League of Legends
  • Formula One official games
  • iRacing (stylized)
  • NBA 2K (series)
  • Fortnite
  • Call of Duty (series)

There are many teams across an enormous board of games, so I am going to list the teams for Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six: Siege

CS:GO Teams (as of 2017)

  • Astralis
  • CLG
  • Cloud9
  • EnVyUs (stylized)
  • Faze
  • Flipsid3 (stylized)
  • Fnatic (stylized)
  • G2 Esports
  • Gambit Gaming
  • Godsent
  • Hellraisers
  • Immortals
  • Mouseports
  • Natus Vincere “to win”
  • NiP (stylized)
  • North
  • Optic
  • Renegades
  • SK Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Spirit
  • TyLoo (stylized)
  • Vega Squadron
  • Virtus.Pro

Rainbow Six: Siege (R6S) NA Teams

  • beastcoast
  • Disrupt Gaming
  • Oxygen Esports
  • Susquehanna Soniqs
  • DarkZero Esports
  • Mirage
  • Spacestation Gaming
  • TSM

As displayed here, these events garner huge followings not only in the venue, but online through video streams and/or TV broadcasting.

These teams compete against each other in a formal bracket, teams eventually meeting teams and climbing the ladder to victory.

The final two teams then face off in the final duel, and the team that comes out victorious will claim their right to fame and their trophy and/or prize money.

Even if it is relatively new, I think ESports has a chance to grow. Many people tend to denounce it, because they think it is not a real sport. Steadily, they have been consecutively proven wrong many times.

ESports is like a high-speed chess game. It may not require physical exertion, but it does require a colossal amount of practice and mental dexterity. Many of these games can make your heart race, and cause you to panic and lose.
