Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States. He goes down in history as the first African-American president.

He was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu. He attended Harvard Law School, and a couple other colleges as well. He also became a U.S. senator before he was president in 2005-2008.

Obama ran in the 2008 election with his soon to be announced running mate Joe Biden. He was against John McCain, a Republican from Arizona. Obama won the election 365 to 173 electoral votes. In 2012, he was reelected again. Obama served two terms in office. He helped end the war in Iraq, helped the country recover from the great recession, and many more things. He even won the Nobel Peace Prize!

Some places where you can read more about him include the actual White House website, Ducksters, if you’re a child, or his Wikipedia article.

Obama left office with a relatively high approval rating. He and his wife, Michelle Obama, attended Joe Biden’s inaguration, and he received a fist bump there.

  1. This is a really good post and I like how you wrote down the facts. You didn’t make it blocky and I think the picture placement is nice.

  2. I agree. Obama was a great man, and his approval ratings were well deserved. I didn’t know that he was born in Honolulu, that’s pretty cool.
