We’re going to develop our scheduling possibilities a little further and try to get things a little more organized. As of now, the studio calendar has been a hodge-podge of over zealous director ownership whereby some students claim entire weeks of time, then don’t use any or all of it. So, we’re going to have some rules to clarify the proper use of the schedule and I’ll give some incentives for caring for the studio and sound rooms during and after filming.

First off, calendar time should be scheduled as follows:

  1. Review dates, times, and rooms available on the online calendar. The online calendar is the final calendar.
  2. Reservations must be made a minimum of one week in advance.
  3. Clearly and neatly write the name of the director and/or producer of the production on the day scheduled.
  4.  Pick a specific time of the day that you will be using the studio.
  5. List which studio you will be using – Main Stage, Equipment Room, Sound Studio

Now that you’ve scheduled your time on the calendar, you’ll need to understand the stakes involved.

Students are being given 100 points participation for them to use for scheduling and use of equipment (once we have more that a couple microphones this will make more sense). For studio reservation time, the director and/or producer is putting in a point deposit for 25 points. These points will be returned in full to the director/producer if the following is completed:

  1. Arrive on time and use the facility as scheduled. Cancellations at least 24 hours in advance will be excused. Last minute cancellations will cost 5 points.
  2. Return all equipment to their proper storage place. Point deduction will be on a case by case basis depending on the egregious nature of the state of the equipment, i.e. not returned, not returned to it’s proper place, not stored properly, etc. (Unreturned equipment will also require repayment for the cost of that equipment as per the technology agreement signed by every student at the beginning of the year.)
  3. Studio is cleaned, swept, wiped-down, and furniture is neatly stacked or returned to its place of origin. A studio that is found not cleaned will result in point deductions from the director/producer’s deposit equal to the level of disarray.
